A History of Independence.
These days it’s fashionable for brokers to say they’re independent. But this wasn’t always the case. In fact, when we opened our doors in 1992 with a handful of employees and a dream of building a truly independent brokerage firm, many said we wouldn’t last. They couldn’t have been more wrong.
Today, Colemont is one of the largest specialty lines wholesale insurance brokers in the United States. And with no outside ownership whatsoever we are independent in every sense of the word.
So, what does our independence mean? It means we honor our relationships. Agents know we partner with them, not compete against them. And markets trust us to give them a fair opportunity to underwrite a risk.
Others may claim they’re independent. But this is who we are and who we’ve always been.
An Entrepreneurial Spirit.
Defying conventional limitations, we built this company writing risks others said couldn’t be written. Over the years, we’ve been able to recruit brokers and underwriters with that same energy and determination. And because we celebrate their creativity, not inhibit it, we enjoy one of the highest retention rates in the industry. That means deeper business knowledge of our accounts, so our customers enjoy higher service levels and quicker turn times.
